This 2.5 hour workshop will guide you through making your own woven wall hanging using a hand loom. Participants will learn the essential stitches, as well as helpful tips that will cover everything from starting to completing each piece. A simple completed design sample will be on hand to help learn the basics, and to follow, but everyone will be encouraged to let the creativity flow and to enjoy being flexible with the craft. You’ll finish the workshop with a new adornment for your walls, a couple of tools and a small handmade wood loom to keep you creating from home. A collection of great yarn in various colors will be provided to use during the workshop, but if you have a special fiber that you’d like to weave with, please bring it along.
Nicole Cook began weaving over four years ago as a creative release and quickly developed a deep appreciation for the process. As a full-time landscape designer, she has found a way to let each craft compliment the other and weaves original custom pieces, in between creating new outdoor environments. Nicole credits weaving for bringing her a new way to connect with herself and the local community and loves teaching it because she believes the meditative benefits it brings to her, could likely be found by many others.
